Since 2014, in the heart of China Town in Milan, Yuebinlou restaurant offers excellent Chinese cuisine. Entering here means immersing yourself in the atmosphere of old-fashioned Chinese osterias in Italy, those of the 80s and 90s that many of us have been used to for years. But if you think you can find only the usual dishes, you have done everything wrong: do not stop at the canonical chicken with almonds or Cantonese rice because Yuebinlou is the link between the old and the new, or with what the Milanese have been so fascinated in recent years.
First of all, I give you a dispassionate advice: ask the dining room staff what the chef proposes off the menu. In fact, there are many special dishes that you can taste here, as well as the extreme ones for the more daring, such as duck or fish heads and pork intestines.
If you prefer to opt for less particular dishes, the choice is wide: from the numerous dumplings as an appetizer, to sautéed noodles, rice dumplings, to the more classic preparations based on beef and chicken. There are also vegetables and tofu.
Among the most interesting (and particularly good) proposals, I suggest you take a look at the section of the menu that concerns the Sichuan dishes, all very tasty and spicy.
Yuebinlou also offers take away service and in conjunction with the emergency Covid-19 has enhanced home deliveries by allowing customers to order through Deliveroo.
I have personally tried some dishes at home and my opinion on the cuisine of this place is positive. The portions are all abundant (I served using my dishes, but the quantity that arrived at home was at least triple!), the preparations well executed, tasty and with a taste that is by no means trivial.
The shrimp dumplings are really tasty and the shrimp pieces are beautiful solid and fleshy, synonymous with freshness and authenticity. Peking pork is also delicious: the sweetness of this dish is not at all cloying. A note of merit goes to the sour-spicy eggplants (cooked in the earthenware bowl), but above all to the Wenzhou noodles, absolutely my favorite dish: if you are in the Paolo Sarpi area it is worth stopping by Yuebinlou to try only these!
Do I recommend you this Chinese tavern? Absolutely yes if you are in the area and want to have a bite to eat for lunch. Come with friends during the week or with the family, the Yuebinlou menu satisfies everyone. The bill? Really paltry.
