Kim Bar Chinese Bistrot
A few steps away from the Wagner subway stop there is a very interesting Chinese restaurant called Kim Bar Chinese Bistrot. Opened over ten years ago, this small, anonymous-looking venue features a menu that contains several very inviting proposals from Hong Kong cuisine. It is from this city that the owners (husband in the kitchen and wife in the dining room) come who previously worked at the renowned Ta Hua restaurant.
The environment is very simple and the seats are not numerous (which is why booking is recommended), while during the summer season a small terrace is organized on the street.
Here we come first of all for the dumplings, probably their best preparation here. From those stuffed with sea bass, to duck dumplings, especially the Wantons and those with pork and broth. A real treat! It is worth coming in a group to try them all.
There are numerous proposals based on noodles (rice or soy spaghetti, noodles, rice dumplings), but also rice, fish dishes (I tried the grilled seafood, really excellent), beef, pork, vegetables and tofu . Desserts are homemade - coconut milk pudding is very good.
What is striking about this restaurant is the quality of the raw material and the delicacy of the taste: the use of salt is limited and the flavor of the preparations is rich and full. The vegetables present in almost all dishes are also very fresh.
I also recommend that you ask for off-menu proposals, because they always reserve some very tasty surprises: for example, I really appreciated the mashed shrimps with vegetables.
The final price is quite in line with the other restaurants that offer Hong Kong cuisine in Milan. Maybe you will spend a little more than the Cantonese cuisine, but the quality of what you have eaten will justify the bill.
