Miga is a Korean restaurant run by a Korean couple who have moved to Italy for several years. Mr. Lee manages the room and his wife (originally from Seoul), on the other hand, is the cook.
It has been a long time since I wanted to try this restaurant as over time I have always collected positive opinions from friends who have been to Korea on many occasions and therefore know this type of cuisine perfectly.
So I went there for lunch with Nicole. Once inside, the environment is a bit cold but the customers are Asian and Korean. It is immediately clear that this place is perfect to be joined with friends, not suitable for a couple dinner. The informal atmosphere lends itself to a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner.
At midday Miga offers a very convenient complete menu, both meat and vegetarian, a pork bone soup as a single dish or the bibimbap. All of these sets include banchans (side dishes) and are abundant. I tried the complete menu and I must say that I liked it very much. First of all, I appreciated the choice of proposing purple rice, very popular in Korea but very difficult to find in Korean restaurants in Milan. In addition, the tofu braised with gochujang was really delicious.
For dinner, the menu is much wider, as well as the price rises a lot. The proposals are authentic with the exception of mandu (dumplings), whose recipes are a little revisited and it is not clear why there are shrimp dim sum - clearly Chinese.
Anyway, you can find all the famous traditional dishes: rice cakes, pajeon (Korean salted pancake with spring onion and seafood), fried chicken, japchae (sautéed sweet potato spaghetti), ganzazang (noodle with black sauce of beans), soups (including obviously stewed kimchi), sautéed squid with spicy sauce and various grilled meat dishes, including Bulgogi and grilled bacon.
There are also off-paper proposals, one more interesting than the other (such as rice cakes inside the pumpkin) that I would like to try in the future.
The beverage list includes wines, beer, soft drinks, soju and jeonjong.
